Well there is something to be said for getting back to an old routine. It's only the third day of school, but I'm already feeling used to it. And there is a certain comfort, at least for me, in routine. Today, I only have classes in the afternoon and so, besides going for a run this morning, I've been writing. I'm still tinkering with my latest idea for a YA project. It involves Internetporn, a subject I researched earlier this summer for a feature I wrote for Maclean's Magazine. Anyway, I'm tinkering away, adjusting material I already wrote, and adding to what's already there. My goal is pretty modest: to produce 500 new words five days a week. Of course, that may get a little harder to do once my correcting rolls in. But I've learned not to worry too much about that sort of thing and just to take one writing day at a time. One thing I know for sure is that taking the time to write makes me happy -- and gives me more energy to share with the rest of the world. Okay then, on that note, time to make my lunch and get ready to head to school.

Ah... so, not only do you write in the morning, but you talk about writing in the late afternoon. Not bad!
Unfortunately, I can't say I wrote 500 original words today... note-taking isn't exactly creative
(And wow, I missed out on a lot of news during the summer!)
