So my mum -- whose story inspired my new book, What World Is Left, and I were interviewed for the CBC radio show, All In a Weekend. The interview aired yesterday morning and I cried when I heard it. I'm trying my best to figure out how to post the mp3 of the interview on this blog entry, but I'm having a wee bit of trouble... may need to get the help of someone more technically savvy thanme (that means just about anyone!!)
Before last week's book launch, I have to admit I was a little worried my mum might get overwhelmed by all the attention (until quite recently, she had never discussed her experience in a Nazi concentration camp). But the good news is she is doing great. If you ask me, my mum, Celine Spier, is the real star in town lately. I'm just the "daughter of"!! Really, though, I'm so deeply glad and satisfied that I got her to share her story, and that I was able to turn it into a novel. Okay, wish me luck posting the interview... BY GOLLY, I THINK I JUST DID IT -- WITHOUT TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE!!
PS: Kim just wrote saying she can't access the file. Grrr (sound of grown woman growling.) Let me try to work on it. And about the CTV interview: it airs this coming Thursday, October 30 at 6 P.M. on Debra Arbec's "My Montreal."
