I shouldn't be writing a blog entry right now, but as you may have noticed, I am. What I should be doing is marking term papers. Only I miss writing too much!! As you may know, I teach full-time at Marianopolis College here in Montreal. This week, my students' major mid-term assignments are due... about 80 essays came in this morning, and I'll get more work on Wednesday. All this to say that I won't be spending much time this week at my computer. There's only one good thing about this situation: when you are forced away from a writing project, you are usually very happy and excited when you get back to it. So, the George River story will have to percolate in my imagination this week while I correct, correct and correct some more.Â
Also, I did do some newspaper writing over the weekend: I wrote a story for The Montreal Gazette about eBay University. It's a program run by the people at eBay (the online auction and shopping website) to help people learn how to make money selling merchandise on eBay. I went to the course on Saturday -- not because I ever plan to sell anything on eBay, but because I thought it would make a cool story. I figured I'd meet interesting people and I did! I met one man who has about 1,000 original records, mostly from the 1970s. And I met a woman who has collected thousands of Christmas ornaments. Both of them are hoping to make money selling their stuff on eBay. Who knows, maybe one day I'll use an eBay addict in one of my books. Okay, off I go to return to my pile of correcting. Hope you're having more fun than I am!!
